The third and final workshop of the TrainIQA series took place in Windhoek, Namibia, from 22 to 26 April 2024. This workshop served as a comprehensive conclusion to the training series, focusing on higher education development and addressing external challenges through innovative quality assurance practices.
The programme began with discussions on quality assurance and its links to higher education management, highlighting the role of strategic curriculum management in challenging environments and the importance of policy development in higher education institutions. These sessions provided participants with a deeper understanding of the complexities and necessities of integrating quality assurance into the broader educational strategy.
An important aspect of the workshop was the reflection on project implementation. Participants shared lessons learned and common challenges faced during their experiences in the series, fostering a collaborative environment for problem solving and innovation. The potential of artificial intelligence for quality assurance was another key topic, highlighting the opportunities and risks of new technologies in educational settings.
The workshop also included a cultural day with a visit to the University of Namibia, where participants were introduced to the university's quality assurance system and participated in a campus tour that included tracer studies at higher education institutions.
The university leadership was present at the final conference on 27-28 April, actively participating in discussions and in their own leadership forum. This involvement underlined the importance of their role in the effective completion of the training programme. The conference not only facilitated a deeper understanding of quality assurance practices, but also highlighted the progress and outcomes of various projects undertaken by the participants. These presentations showcased individual efforts at their respective institutions and highlighted significant milestones, achievements, and challenges encountered during the implementation of these projects
The event concluded with a certificate ceremony, celebrating the achievements of the participants.
